6th grade Think Lab: THE PAPER ENGINEERING CHALLENGE
REQUIREMENTS:
explore and use at least 4 resources on various origami techniques (check out the websites below as well as the books in our room; and find your own resources, of course!) NOTE: when you find other origami websites, post them on this page under "web resources" below.
your resources should allow you to study various paper creations, such as pop-up books, animals, and polyhedrons.
as you learn new styles and techniques, create at least 4 practice origami pieces
on your wiki page (see links below), list each practice item you make by name, post a picture and explain what skills or techniques you learned from it
pay attention to what others are learning and teach each other new skills - collaboration is encouraged, though each person must create his own practice pieces and final project
for the final project, select or design your own paper project; it should be challenging and complex for you - a stretch for your skills and ability; a product that will take you more than one class to finish; your final project will be displayed on your page with a title and description as well as directions on how to create it. We will then share our wiki link with staff and families. PLUS, we'll display our final products in the school.
